DO ARTISTS DREAM OF ELECTRIC EASELS?

In his 1968 novel, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? science fiction author Philip K. Dick questions the validity of digital entities as life forms.  In the same spirit, this exhibit, curated by Santiago Castillo, will showcase work in which digital tools are used as an essential medium in contemporary art.

The show includes works by students from the Toronto School of Art’s Digital Arts program. These pieces have all been created with the help of various digital imaging software programs, and in some cases, combined with “traditional” artistic media.

Do Artists Dream of Electric Easels? will open at Launch Projects Gallery, located at 404 Adelaide Street West in Toronto, from June 30 till July 9, 2010.  Opening reception will be on Wed, June 30 from 7-11 PM.

Gallery Hours: Wed-Fri, 12-5pm
